What is deliverance?
Deliverance is defined as rescuing or setting free.
Set free from what?
The enemy, demonic influences: demons. They are evil spirits or devils, also called unclean spirits
How does somebody get an unclean spirit
Through sin committed, they can also be passed from one generation to the next, therefore you may have inherited some from your ancestors.
Generational curses: The sins of your ancestors can also attribute to your spiritual bondages and troubles (Exodus 20:5). The remedy to break this, is to repent on behalf of your ancestors for their sins (Nehemiah 9:2), and to break any curses (in the name of Jesus) that may have come upon you as a result of their actions.
Spoken curses: Your words have the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21), and if you have said something that has bound your soul (such as declaring, "I'll never amount to anything" or "I want to die"), then you should repent of it and take it back (renounce it out loud). Matthew 12:37, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
Unholy vows: James 5:2, "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation." Any unholy vows you have made need to be repented of (Leviticus 5:4-6), and renounced (taken back) and broken in the name of Jesus.
Unconfessed sins: If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us (1 John 1:9), but if you hide your sins, you are giving the enemy ground in your life (Proverbs 28:13). Act 3:19, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."
Unholy soul ties: 1 Corinthians 6:16, "What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh." When two people become very close, especially though sexual relationships, soul ties are formed. If the soul tie is unholy, it can serve as a demonic spiritual bridge between the two persons. This can allow the demons tormenting one person to torment the other person. These soul ties should be renounced and broken in Jesus' name and the sins which have caused the soul ties should be repented of and forsaken. Also, if any gifts or objects (rings, personal gifts, etc.) were given to you from the person whom you may have had an adultery or committed similar sins with, they should be sold or destroyed. Even a harmless thing like a watch can hold a soul tie together formed from an adultery, fornication or a similar sin.
Cursed objects: Deuteronomy 7:26, "Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing." Cursed objects such as idols, occult books, rings, etc. can bring a curse upon your life and your home. Land can also be cursed as a result of the sins of it's inhabitants (Leviticus 18:27).
It is Biblical to burn occult or cursed objects. Deuteronomy 7:25, "The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire... for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God." It's also evident in the NT as well, Acts 19:19, "Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men..." Ezekiel 20:7, "Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."

IF A PERSON HAS AN EVIL SPIRIT, DOES THAT MEAN HE OR SHE IS POSSESSED
In Mark 1:23, it says just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out…..it did not say: just then a man in their synagogue who had an evil spirit cried out.
Even when demons are inside a person, the person is usually not 100% possessed by them. The man in the Bible (Mark 5:1-13) called Legion, who had many unclean spirits, had clear thinking moments .Mark 5:2-3 reads: "When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. Notice that nobody could control this man, yet he chose to come to Jesus on his own. Jesus commanded the evil spirits to leave. The man got free.Note: Meaning he can still decide if he wants deliverance or not.
About the same man in the book of Luke reads, “People went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus...” Luke 8:35
Should I be embarrassed if I have need of deliverance?
No you mustn’t be embarrassed, In the Bible Jesus never once blamed anyone for having an unclean spirit. He simply commanded the demons to leave. Remember in Romans 7:17-25(please read).
This suggests that the people who had demons were not at fault. Jesus knew that people didn’t get them on purpose. Jesus came to undo the works of the devil (death), to set captives (of the devil) free, to give us life more abundantly, to heal us and to offer all those who believe in Him eternal life (salvation).
What is deliverance like?
Deliverance is experienced differently by everyone. It is not scary at all. Some people feel as though nothing happened. Some people feel lighter and more peaceful. Some feel a release, as though something has left them. Each person is unique but everyone feels better after prayer at Christ Healing Ministry. Than they felt before they came.
The evidence of deliverance is shown over time. When unwanted desires and behaviors are no longer present and when old wounds no longer hurt, deliverance has occurred.
How is deliverance done?
Very simply done: Share with you the word of God: prayers are prayed fasting and evil spirits are commanded to go in Jesus' name.
Prayer and fasting: Some demons are so strong that not only is it necessary to cast them out, but a higher then usual level of faith, which is only obtained through prayer and fasting, is required when getting them out. After the disciples tried to cast out a stronger demon(s) and were unsuccessful, Jesus told them that there are some demons that will come out by nothing by prayer and fasting (which builds one's faith to the high levels that is required when casting some demons out). Mark 9:29, "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
What actually happens when deliverance occurs?

An example of how someone might acquire an unclean spirit:
Let’s say that a guy named John Doe is tempted to watch a pornographic movie. If John Doe gives in to this temptation (obeys evil) he will commit a sin. This sin gives a spirit of lust entrance into John Doe life. The demon encourages John Doe to view more and more. Then the unclean spirit urges John Doe to think about and try things he sees. If he does, he could open the door to even more devils such as perversion, molestation, violence and so on. If John Doe continues to entertain this demon of lust (whether by thinking about it or actually doing it = same thing), it is likely to develop a stronghold in John Doe’s life. A stronghold is when a powerful enemy has a right to occupy an area, much like a lease.
A stronghold may appear in the form of an addiction to something. It could also remain under-cover, hiding itself and influencing John Doe’s mind and actions. The enemy tries not to be discovered.
Meanwhile, John Doe is likely to have no idea that an unclean spirit has taken up residence with him. He thinks his behaviors (problems) are part of his personality; it’s just “the way he is.” John Doe may continue to obey evil instead of good and allow a stronghold to develop. If he does, he will no longer be able to think his own thoughts, for evil spirits will be urging and pressuring him to ever increasing levels of depravity. John Doe needs deliverance to get free.

I ask You, Father, to forgive and restore me, in Jesus’ Name. I take back all authority that I gave to the dark side, and now I break all bindings and attachments to me in Jesus’ Name. I command in the authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that every occult or witchcraft spirit release me and go from me now. Separate from each other and leave in Jesus’ Name.
